Foursquare educators from as far away as Nigeria and Norway gathered with peers from the U.S. for a three-day event in San Dimas to effectively prepare others for ministry and the marketplace.
Jessie Cruickshank is a Foursquare minister and nationally recognized expert in the fields of neuroeducation and experiential education. She considers the Foursquare Education Symposium to be an outstanding event for Foursquare educators and makes it a priority in her schedule each year.
“This year’s symposium represented the breadth of Foursquare education. It was wonderful to see leaders representing global education, institutes, the Emerging Leader Network (ELN), Hispanic education, and Christian higher education all in the same room.”

The 2018 Foursquare Education Symposium, sponsored by the Foursquare National Church Office and Life Pacific College (LPC), brought together Foursquare ministers and educators from around the U.S. and the globe on March 19-21 at our LPC campus in San Dimas, Calif.
Emerging Leader Network facilitator Steven Mulkey from Living Water Foursquare Church in Olympia, Wash. was impressed by the interaction with like-minded leaders. “The Education Symposium was packed with great communicators, challenging content, and rich opportunities to develop relationships both nationally and internationally,” Steven says.
United under the theme, “Disciple All Nations,” educators enjoyed plenary sessions with speakers Dr. Leah Payne of George Fox University, Dr. Jesse Miranda from Vanguard University, LPC’s own Dr. Michael Salmeier, and theologians and educators Dr. Joann Lyons and Gary Matsdorf.

Dynamic worship was lead by the Life Pacific College worship team. Learning tracks offered throughout the symposium were tailored to meet specific needs of leaders representing ministry institutes, higher education, Hispanic education, ELN, global education, and leadership development.
“Personally, I appreciated the outstanding plenary session speakers and the depth of insight they offered our Foursquare educators and ministers,” Life Pacific President Jim J. Adams says. “I enjoy opportunities like this to rub shoulders with other Christian educators and to fellowship with like-minded professionals in our field of Christian service.”
“We are particularly grateful for the outstanding partnership with the Foursquare National Church Office and the Foursquare Global Council that made this symposium possible at LPC. We appreciate the tireless efforts of NCO Leadership Education Coordinator Lisa Penberthy, Foursquare Education Commission Chair Dr. Daniel Hedges, and Global Council Chair Dr. Leslie Keegel for the effectiveness of the 2018 symposium,” President Adams says.
Dr. Michael Larkin, President of LPC-Ignite also praised the symposium, “I walked away encouraged and with continued appreciation of the broader vision for Foursquare education.”
During the symposium, Dr. Glenn Burris, president of The Foursquare Church and Dr. Daniel Hedges presented a certificate of affiliation to Pacific Life Bible College of Canada (PLBC), affirming the Foursquare International Board’s designation of Pacific Life Bible College as a recognized institution for the training of Foursquare ministers internationally.

PLBC President and LPC alumnus Derek Geerlof and Vice President of Student Development Dean Davey received the certificate and the designation on behalf of the college. “It is wonderful to be a part of a Canadian Foursquare College that is able to help serve our Global Foursquare Family,” President Geerlof says.
The symposium concluded with a panel moderated by President Jim J. Adams and featured panelists Dr. Randy Furushima, president emeritus at Pacific Rim Christian University, Dr. Michael Whyte, provost emeritus at Azusa Pacific University, Rev. Jeff Zone, executive pastor at Beverly Blvd. Foursquare Church Montebello, Calif., Dr. Michael Salmeier, vice president of academic affairs at Life Pacific College, and Derek Geerlof, president of Pacific Life Bible College.
Participants were challenged and inspired by the collegial atmosphere and the quality of the educational and discipleship presentations at the 2018 symposium. An expanding network of Foursquare educators continues to reach into the furthest reaches of the earth to education, train, and equip Foursquare leaders at every level of the Church and in the marketplace.
“As we learn from each other during events like this, we can only come to a more complete understanding of what it really means to disciple all nations,” Jessie Cruickshank says.
