A “2017 Listening Tour” this fall has helped shape the President’s Five-Point Strategic Vision for the next five years.
By: Jim J. Adams, Ed.D., LPC President
Reading Habakkuk 2:2, the Lord impressed on my heart the need for clear vision today that will benefit our tomorrow – a future that only He fully knows. He told us to write the plan and make it clear, but first, we must seek Him until we fully understand the contents of that vision!
God speaks through wise counsel and faithful co-laborers, and I wanted to tap into that wealth of wisdom as we intentionally and aggressively sought God’s direction for Life Pacific (University).
Over a very engaging six-month period and after a dozen meetings with some 150 stakeholders in 13 focus groups, including students, executives, district supervisors, pastors, alumni, community leaders, and a host of others, I believe we have heard the heart of God. We held face-to-face meetings in multiple locations and online, and conducted interviews and reviewed digital questionnaires.
From this 2017 Listening Tour, we have identified five points - five running lanes - that will guide our progress into this next season at Life Pacific (University).
The vision enumerates five comprehensive categories that help determine my strategic responsibilities to support the forward progress of LPU and the expansion of the kingdom of God through our institution.
- Stewarding Resources Effectively
- Advancing Strategic Enrollment
- Promoting Cultural Competency and Inclusion
- Building Bridges of Relationship
- Leading Christ-centered Change
These five running lanes represent the key areas of oversight, expansion, and vision for the president’s office during the next five years. The vision enumerates five comprehensive categories that help determine my strategic responsibilities to support the forward progress of LPU and the expansion of the kingdom of God through our institution.
During my installation service as the tenth president of Life Pacific College in 2013, I shared the “President’s 10-point Shared Vision,” pressing our college community to new levels of anticipation, stability, and accomplishment. With gratitude for God’s faithfulness, today we celebrate the realization of those dreams and are stepping into God’s direction for an even greater season of “Life.”

Collective wisdom and insight during the 2017 Listening Tour allowed us the assurance that we have heard the mind of the Lord and not simply the desire of an individual. The President’s Share Vision must be just that, shared by all stakeholders, and I believe we have identified five key principles of growth for our institution that will please the heart of God and expand the influence of LPU in a new era.
Are you ready? The next five years will fly by, just as the past five years have for me. As we launch out, join us in bold prayer for the favor and passion of the Lord to permeate every decision. Pray His grace as we lay the foundation for future growth that we can only dream about today.
Most of all join us as we boldly advance full steam into the next season of growth and development for our beloved Life Pacific.
