Revitalizing our Revivalist Roots: Inviting a Fresh Wind of the Holy Spirit

As people of the gospel, we cry out for a fresh move of the Holy Spirit to revitalize our faith and bring many to a knowledge of God. Since the early church, God’s Spirit has awakened his people to a new understanding of his presence in each historical period, social context, nation, and tribe.

The Center for Global Pentecostal Studies and Practice invites you to join us for an enriching and timely conversation hosted by Dr. Bill Oliverio and led by Dr. Andew K. Opie, featuring a distinguished panel including Rev. Dr. John C.,  Rev. Dr. Craig Keener, Rev. Dr. Cecil M. Robeck, and Rev. Dr. Jacquelyn E. Winston.

Together, we will explore practical questions and guiding principles about the nature of revival, the contexts in which it emerges, and how we can prepare both the church and our own hearts to receive the coming work of the Holy Spirit. This dynamic discussion will equip and inspire you as leaders to contend, pray and seek the move of God’s Spirit in your communities and ministries. Come ready to be challenged, encouraged, and empowered for what the Lord is doing in this season.

Panelists:

Moderator: Rev. Dr. Andrew C. Opie is Visiting Professor of Bible & Mission at Life Pacific University as well as the Director of the Center for Global Pentecostal Studies and Practice (CGPSP). He is also an ordained minister with the Foursquare denomination.

Rev. Dr. John C. is a professor and ordained minister in eastern Asian contexts. Given the sensitive nature of his ministry, his full name and picture are omitted.

Rev. Dr. Craig Keener is Professor of Biblical Studies at Asbury Theological Seminary. As well as being a prolific author, he received his ordination in 1991 from the National Baptist Convention, but maintains strong ties with the Wesleyan theological traditions which were the basis of the Pentecostal movement of the early 1900s.

Rev. Dr. Cecil M. Robeck (Mel) is Senior Professor of Church History & Ecumenics at Fuller Theological Seminary.  His many writings include the seminal book on the Azusa Street revival, The Azusa Street Mission and Revival, and he is also an ordained minister with the Assemblies of God.

Winston is Professor Emerita of Church History and Theology at Azusa Pacific University as well as an ordained minister with the Foursquare denomination.  Prior to her retirement, she was the Chair of the Dept. of Theology at Azusa Pacific University and she has written on the political and social context of the church and its use of power against the marginalized.
