What types of aid are available?
Filling out a FAFSA will determine what type of federal aid a student could qualify for. Check out this page for more information about types of financial aid, including federal, state and institutional.
Is there a deadline to apply for financial aid?
To apply for federal financial aid, you can start a FAFSA application as early as October 1st for the following academic year. Apply online at StudentAid.gov.

For a California State Grant (CAL Grant), the deadline is March 2nd. You can apply as early as October 1st of each year for the following academic year. Apply online at csac.ca.gov.

For non-citizens (DACA) students, the deadline is March 2nd. You can apply as early as October 1st of each year for the following academic year. Complete the CADAA form (Dream Act) online at csac.ca.gov.

What are the next steps after completing the FAFSA?
Once you complete the FAFSA and submit the application, the financial aid office will receive a copy within 2-3 business days. You will then receive information regarding your aid eligibility, or you’ll be notified if you need to submit more information if your FAFSA is selected for verification.
I was selected for verification, what is the next step?
Being selected for verification simply means we need to collect some additional information to confirm that what was reported on the FAFSA has been accurately reported. A student will be notified from their financial aid counselor if they have been selected and will be instructed on what other information needs to be submitted for review. After the verification process is complete, then you will receive an aid letter showing your eligibility and next steps.
