There is a growing hunger among students at Life Pacific University, a deep desire not just for knowledge, but for the presence and power of God. In this season, chapel has become sacred space marked by surrender, extended worship, and authentic encounters with the Lord.
During Theology Week, Dr. Ken Bringas, Director of LPU Seminar, called students back to the essential role of the Holy Spirit in the life of the believer. He reminded them that “the Holy Spirit is not optional for the believer; He is essential for the mission,” pointing to Acts 1:8, that we receive power to be Christ’s witnesses. Students responded with a renewed desire not only to understand the Spirit, but to be filled, empowered, and sent. Watch chapel message:
Building on this foundation, Pastor Ben Dixon, Lead Pastor of Northwest Church in Federal Way, WA, invited students to recognize the pattern of God’s movement throughout Scripture and today, that God responds to hunger. What followed was more than a message. As reflected after the gathering by students, “what started as a message turned into an encounter… hearts were stirred, faith was awakened, and lives were marked by His presence.”
Pastor Ben also emphasized that a Spirit-filled life is sustained through intentional pursuit of God, encouraging students to cultivate rhythms that keep them close to His presence. It’s a learning process to lean in and walk in the gifts. He then led in a time of prophetic ministry and prayer, modeling what it looks like to listen to the Holy Spirit and respond with faith and courage. Watch chapel message:
Students filled the altar and remained in the chapel praying, worshiping, and seeking the face of Jesus. There was no rush to leave, only a deep desire to remain. It was a powerful picture of what Jesus invites us into in John 15: to abide.
This is what we are witnessing at LPU: students who are not content with passive faith, but who are pressing in for more. They are hungry for the Spirit, desiring the gifts, and longing to be empowered to live as witnesses in their generation.
As the Lord moves across university campuses across the nation, we are filled with hope. This generation is not disengaged, they are awakening. They are seeking, surrendering, and responding.
Please continue to pray for our students, that they would remain rooted in Christ, filled with the Spirit, and faithful to the call of God on their lives as they lead the Church into the future.
