Home E News E Faith Schwantner ’25: Rooted in Faith, Refined by Challenge, and Ready to Serve

University, California

When Faith Schwantner first stepped onto Life Pacific University’s campus, she believed she knew who she was—first and foremost a follower of Christ, and then an athlete. But as her journey at LPU unfolded, Faith discovered that God had more to reveal. “Before LPU, I felt confident in my identity,” she shares. “But this new environment stretched that confidence, leading to a season of testing, growth, and ultimately, transformation.”

In the classroom, on the court, and in the quiet moments of dorm life, God met Faith in powerful ways. “Each space became a classroom for my character,” she says. “I’ve learned to dig deeper—not just intellectually, but spiritually. I’ve come to see that real security in Christ isn’t about being comfortable. It’s about daily obedience and trusting who He says I am.”

That depth of trust has become the foundation on which Faith now stands—firmly rooted in her calling, guided by humility, and deeply attuned to the voice of God.

Among Faith’s proudest accomplishments during her time at LPU is the perseverance she found in balancing rigorous academics and athletics. “There were seasons when both felt overwhelming,” she recalls. “But I held onto the promise that God would give me the strength and wisdom I needed to keep going.”

Faith also learned to embrace new seasons—even the ones she didn’t feel prepared for. “Stepping forward in faith, even when everything feels uncertain, is one of the most valuable lessons I’ve learned. God has shown me time and again that He provides the strength to move forward.”

One verse that became especially meaningful for Faith is Habakkuk 3:17–18:
“Though the fig tree does not bud and there are no grapes on the vines… yet I will rejoice in the Lord.” In moments when things didn’t go as planned or when life felt uncertain, that passage reminded her where her true security lies. “It taught me to rejoice even when circumstances aren’t ideal. God’s presence is my peace. Through the challenges, I’ve felt His nearness more than ever before.”

As she prepares to graduate, Faith is carrying with her not just memories, but a clearer vision of who she is and what she’s called to do. “LPU didn’t just confirm who I thought I was—God used this place to show me who I’m becoming.”

Next, Faith will travel to Romania for her final missions trip as an LPU student. From there, she’ll begin a new role in the Development Department at the San Diego Rescue Mission, where she’ll minister to those experiencing homelessness. “It’s a unique opportunity to serve and to walk out the calling God has placed on my life.”

Faith credits much of her growth to the people who invested in her, particularly within the athletic department. “My coaches, trainers, and directors taught me that growth isn’t just about athletic performance—it’s about holistic well-being,” she says. “That mindset has shaped how I approach every area of my life.”

She also points to her time working in the admissions office as a key part of her preparation for the future. “The practical skills I developed there—communication, problem-solving, adaptability—have equipped me for what’s next.”

What will Faith miss most about her time at LPU? “The people,” she says without hesitation. “The community here is something special. I’ll miss the deep conversations in the classroom, the unwavering support from faculty, and the friendships that have marked this chapter of my life.”

To those just beginning their journey at LPU, Faith offers this encouragement: “This season will stretch you, challenge you, and sometimes even break you—but it will also transform you in ways you didn’t expect. Lean into God. Learn to recognize His voice. Embrace the hard lessons and trust the process. And most of all, enjoy it—this time goes by faster than you think.”
