Lindsey, Life Pacific College Transformational Ministry graduate of the Class of 2014, sat in anticipation at her commencement ceremony in the historic Angelus Temple auditorium, ready to receive her diploma after years of hard work. But “What’s next?” wasn’t a question on her mind. A diligent academic with a clear sense of calling, Lindsey didn’t hesitate—she launched forward.
Now a senior associate at Goodsill Anderson Quinn & Stifel LLP in Hawaii and a 2018 graduate of Southwestern Law School, Lindsey Barrios continues to pursue her calling with clarity and conviction.
“I think when you work in the secular field, your ‘ministry’ looks different,” Lindsey reflects. “For me, it’s about living in alignment with my beliefs.” She has participated in several community-centered legal initiatives, including Courts in the Community, a Hawaii Supreme Court education program that connects high school students with real legal proceedings, and Legal Lines, a pro bono legal resource hotline.
Practicing law with faith at the center, Lindsey says, “The legal field can be pretty cutthroat, so it’s important to lead with integrity, grace, and empathy. That’s part of why I moved to Hawaii—there’s a stronger sense of community here than what I experienced in Los Angeles.”
Her path from the small LPU campus to a bustling Hawaii firm has been as personal as it’s been professional. “I graduated from LPU in 2014 and eventually moved to Hawaii for my career—where I also met my husband. We now have two perfect children: Ayla (3) and Kaniela (2).”
At Goodsill, Lindsey primarily defends healthcare providers in medical malpractice matters. “I’ve truly found what I’m supposed to do. My work is meaningful and fulfilling.”
Even with a demanding career, Lindsey remains grounded. “My primary job isn’t being an attorney—it’s being a wife and a mom. My family is my world and the reason for everything I do.”
Her father, former Life Bible College East president Dr. Kimo (“Jim”) Walz, and former LPU staff member Laurie Walz, couldn’t be more proud. “Lindsey has over six years of litigation experience, is active in the community, and is a candidate for partner this year,” Dr. Walz shares. “She’s maintained a strong faith in Jesus Christ and is married to a strong believer. As you can imagine, Laurie and I are incredibly proud of how she’s navigated life with grace and initiative.”
Lindsey credits her time at LPU for laying the groundwork for both her character and her career. “It helped develop my reading and writing—essential skills for any attorney—but more than that, LPU shaped me as a person and gave me lifelong friendships. It felt like home. Honestly, it felt like summer camp all the time, which was so fun.”
Reflecting on how her faith and education intersect, Lindsey adds, “One of the major things I took from my time at LPU was to pursue my passion. That passion brought me to the law.”
Today, with a thriving legal practice, a close-knit family, and deep roots in her faith, Lindsey Barrios remains a remarkable example of what it means to live out your calling—on purpose, with purpose.
