University

Life Pacific University and the Foursquare Northwest District continue their collaboration through the Leader Development Scholarship initiative. The NW district is currently sponsoring 20 dynamic NW leaders. This ongoing partnership highlights a shared commitment to equipping leaders for ministry by providing financial support for theological education.

Scholarship Details and Program Benefits

The Northwest District has allocated $5,000 in educational scholarship funds for three LPU programs, offering support to individuals interested in:

Completing the 100% online Bachelor of Arts in Ministry and Leadership.

Advancing their education through the Master of Arts in Strategic Leadership (MASL).

Deepening their theological training in the Master of Arts in Theological Studies (MATS).

These programs empower leaders by expanding their skills and knowledge while fostering meaningful connections within the ministry community. Graduate students benefit from an enriching one-week residency experience as part of their cohort journey. Sponsorship opportunities are available on a first-come, first-served basis for qualified applicants.

Testimonials from LPU Students

Students enrolled in these programs have shared their experiences:

“My short time in the program has shown me that LPU was the best choice to continue growing in my relationship with the Lord and others.” – Pastor Lori Snyder (MASL)

“The LPU ethos centers on spiritual formation—a healthy, thriving inner life with God. I was impressed with how deep we went spiritually from the start. For me, this emphasis facilitated a return to my first love.” – Pastor Eric Greninger (MATS)

LPU’s programs provide a strong foundation for doctoral studies while helping leaders maximize their personal and professional potential. The curriculum integrates theological education with a Pentecostal ethos, leadership development, spiritual formation, and practical ministry application.

Leadership Insights from Supervisor Steve Mickel and Associate Supervisor Molly DuQue:

The partnership between LPU and the Northwest District is instrumental in addressing leadership challenges within the region. District Supervisor Steve Mickel and Molly DuQue, Associate District Supervisor, shared their insights on the impact of theological education.

Addressing Leadership Challenges

According to Supervisor Steve Mickel, there is a leadership deficit in the Northwest, with fewer individuals pursuing leadership roles in the local church. Developing an “eco-system mentality” of leadership training is essential, and formal education through LPU is a critical component of that solution. The theological and ministry training provided equips leaders holistically for ministry and leadership roles.

Impact of Postgraduate Study

LPU’s postgraduate programs are making an immediate impact on students and their churches. Students currently enrolled in the MASL program are experiencing enriched pastoral leadership, better-researched preaching, stronger theological foundations, and improved strategies for team and community engagement.

The Importance of Investing in Education

Investing in theological education has created a “drafting effect” within the Northwest District. When a few leaders pursue higher education and the district celebrates and supports them, more leaders are encouraged to follow. This approach ensures that more pastors are equipped for effective ministry and leadership.

Strengthening the Future of Ministry

The ongoing collaboration between LPU and the Northwest District continues to support young leaders transitioning from education into ministry opportunities. By combining formal education with practical ministry experiences such as internships and apprenticeships, leaders are developed holistically, ensuring they are well-prepared to serve in diverse church contexts.

Encouragement to Prospective Students

Leaders considering returning to school are encouraged to take the step. While it requires a temporary investment of time and resources, the benefits to personal growth and ministry effectiveness make it a worthwhile endeavor. Many students have found that their education seamlessly integrates into their ministry, allowing for real-time application of their learning.

Future Opportunities

The Leader Development Scholarship initiative continues to equip pastors and leaders with the education and tools needed to thrive. Through this collaboration, the Northwest District and LPU are strengthening the future of ministry leadership and ensuring that pastors are well-prepared to meet the challenges and opportunities of today.
