MPI Preaching Conference

Life Pacific University is thrilled to host the second annual MPI Preaching Conference out of the McPherson Preaching Institute on October 25th from 9 am – 3 pm. The MPI Preaching Conference is only $15 and will feature keynote speaker, Dr. AJ Swoboda and Bishop Kenneth Ulmer (more coming soon),  workshops surrounding this year’s topic, Preaching Truth in an Era of Lies.

The MPI Preaching Conference is designed to equip and inspire current and future preachers with practical and theological insights to enhance their ministry, so join us for this foundational conference to inspire the future of Pentecostal Preaching.

About the Speakers 

Dr. AJ Swoboda 

Rev. A. J. Swoboda (Ph.D., Birmingham) is the associate professor of Bible and Theology at Bushnell University. He served as a college pastor on the University of Oregon campus for nearly ten years. For another decade, he planted and pastored an urban church in Portland, Oregon, called Theophilus, which continues to worship today. He leads a Doctor of Ministry program around Spiritual Formation and Soul Care at Friends University. He has taught at the London School of Theology, LIFE Pacific, Southeastern University, and Multnomah University. He is the author of over ten books, including Redeeming How We Talk (Moody), After Doubt (Brazos), and the award-winning Subversive Sabbath (Brazos). He hosts the Slow Theology podcast (w. Dr. Nijay Gupta) and writes the widely read Low-Level Theologian Substack. A.J. lives and works on an urban farm with his wife and son in Eugene, Oregon.

Bishop Kenneth Ulmer 

Dr. Ulmer is the former President of The King’s University , where he also serves as a founding board member, adjunct professor, and Dean of The King’s at Oxford, an annual summer session at Oxford University.

He holds a Bachelor’s in Broadcasting & Music from the University of Illinois and founded Macedonia Bible Church in San Pedro, California. He has studied at various institutions, including Pepperdine University, Hebrew Union College, and Oxford University, and earned a Ph.D. from Grace Graduate School of Theology. He also received an Honorary Doctor of Divinity and a Doctor of Ministry from United Theological Seminary.

Dr. Ulmer has served as an instructor at Grace Theological Seminary, an adjunct professor at Biola and Pepperdine Universities, and as a mentor in the Doctor of Ministry program at United Theological Seminary. He was consecrated Bishop of Christian Education for the Full Gospel Baptist Church Fellowship and has been involved in several boards, including the Gospel Music Workshop of America and the City of Inglewood’s Mayor’s Advisory Council.

Currently, he is the Presiding Bishop over Macedonia International Bible Fellowship, based in Johannesburg, South Africa, serving pastors across Africa and the U.S.

Dr. Ulmer is the author of several books, including A New Thing, Spiritually Fit to Run the Race, and The Champion in You. He resides in Los Angeles with his wife of 38 years and their three children and five grandchildren.
