University, California

Life Pacific University recently hosted a highly successful Theology Week, filled with insightful events and empowering discussions.

The week featured esteemed scholars Dr. Melissa Archer and Dr. Doretha O’Quinn in chapel services, Dr. O’Quinn and Dr. Jim W. Adams in Theo Talks, and an academic presentation by Dr. Archer, followed by a panel discussion with Foursquare District Supervisors.

“When your theology makes room for others, you are doing theology with and like Jesus. This year we set our focus on the room-making theological conviction that God invites women to minister at every level of His Church. It was a joy to see Dr. Doretha O’Quinn and Dr. Melissa Archer champion the ladies of LPU while inviting the men to enjoy the ministry of “scooching over” to make room at the table of ministry leadership”, says Dr. Tim Lee, the Chair of Theology and Ministry.

Dr. Archer’s chapel message and Dr. O’Quinn’s reflections on women in ministry were both inspiring and thought-provoking. The Theo Talks offered deep theological insights on church leadership, while Dr. Archer’s academic presentation explored women in ministry leadership, followed by a rich panel discussion with the District Supervisors.

With several hundred students attending all the events this week, these conversations met a need for a robust theological basis on this topic for the student body, especially within the Foursquare Denomination.

Dr. Jeff Tolle, the Dean of the School of Theology and Ministry comments, “Theology Week affirmed and celebrated a core aspect of what we believe: that women are equal participants in God’s grace of leadership for the Church. In every message, Theo Talk and lecture, we were once again reminded that God pours out His Spirit abundantly on both men AND women. We are grateful for every speaker, as well as all the pastors and students who participated!”

All events will be recorded and uploaded to the McPherson Preaching Institute Ministry Toolkit, where they will be accessible to students, pastors, and leaders for ongoing learning. These materials will also support a micro-certificate in Women in Ministry Leadership, equipping the next generation of leaders. More information about MPI coming soon, but the Ministry Toolkit can be accessed here using enrollment key: pentecostal when making your account

Theology Week at LPU was a powerful reminder of the university’s commitment to advancing theological education and empowering women in ministry.
