University, California

Beginning in 2026–27, LPU students are invited into a transformational, fully funded experience that brings Scripture, history, and community to life in Washington, D.C.

Life Pacific University is proud to announce the launch of the “Museum of the Bible Experience” annual May trip, a fully funded initiative beginning in the 2026–27 academic year. Each May, LPU students will travel alongside peers, faculty, and staff to the Museum of the Bible in Washington, D.C. The museum is considered one of the most extraordinary destinations in the world for anyone who wants to understand the Bible’s history, narrative, and enduring impact on civilization.

The trip is made possible through the generosity of a dedicated donor who believes deeply in investing in the next generation of Christian leaders. For students, the cost is fully covered, removing every financial barrier and making this a truly open invitation to the entire LPU community.

More Than a Trip: A Spiritual Formation Experience

From the moment students arrive, this is designed to be far more than a sightseeing excursion. The Museum of the Bible offers an unparalleled environment for engaging Scripture at a deeper level, with world-class exhibits spanning 4,000 years of biblical history, rare manuscripts and artifacts, cutting-edge immersive technology, and access to some of the foremost biblical scholars in the world. Students will trace the story of the Bible from ancient scrolls to the modern era, and explore its sweeping influence on art, culture, justice, science, and human history.

Beyond the museum walls, students will visit additional significant museums and historical sites throughout the nation’s capital, deepening their understanding of God’s redemptive story woven throughout history and culture. The trip is carefully curated to connect academic learning with personal faith formation at every turn.

“As Provost of Life Pacific University, I am thrilled that our students will have the opportunity to immerse themselves in the heart of our nation’s capital, where the Museum of the Bible stands alongside so many world-class museums,” said Dr. Daniel Ruarte, Provost and Vice President of Academic Affairs. “This fully funded experience will not only deepen their biblical literacy but also enrich their understanding of God’s redemptive story throughout history.”

Woven throughout the entire experience are daily devotions, small group reflection, and intentional community, making spiritual formation as central to the trip as the exhibits themselves. Students will not simply learn about the Bible; they will encounter it together, in ways that reshape how they read, study, and live it out.

“This really is more than a trip,” said Dr. George Bostanic, Chief Operations Officer and VP of Student Life. “It is a chance for our students to encounter the Bible in a new and fresh way — to see it, walk through it, and engage it alongside community. Our prayer is that it deepens both their understanding and their relationship with Jesus.”

The Research Behind the Experience

The Museum of the Bible Experience is grounded in evidence. Research from the Biblical Literacy Project, which tracked the impact of Museum of the Bible trips on student engagement with Scripture, revealed outcomes that are difficult to achieve through classroom instruction alone.

Among students who participated, 72.2% reported that their interest in the Bible increased significantly. The percentage of students rating their biblical understanding as “good” or “exceptional” rose from 58% before the trip to 93% afterward, which is a 35-point jump. And 94% of students identified the Bible as important or essential to their lives following the experience, with many reporting that they were reading, studying, and discussing Scripture more frequently in the months that followed.

These findings point to something educators have long understood intuitively: experiential, community-based learning has a unique power to move knowledge from the head to the heart. When students encounter the Bible not just as a text to be studied but as a living story to be walked through together, something shifts. The Museum of the Bible Experience is designed precisely to create those conditions.

A Signature Expression of LPU’s Mission

For President Dr. Angie Richey, this initiative is a natural outgrowth of everything Life Pacific University stands for. “This fully funded experience reflects our deep commitment to biblical literacy and transformational education,” she said. “As we invest in meaningful experiences that bring Scripture to life, we are shaping leaders who don’t just study the Word — they believe it and live it. This is part of the transformational journey that prepares our students to impact the Church and the world. We could not be more excited.”

The Museum of the Bible Experience aligns directly with Life Pacific University’s mission: the transformational development of students into leaders prepared to serve God in the Church, the workplace, and the world. By integrating scholarship, history, spiritual practice, and community formation into a single immersive experience, this annual trip represents something distinctive. Not just a program, but a pilgrimage.

LPU envisions this as a signature trip; one that students look forward to, alumni remember, and donors are proud to make possible. As the program grows in the years ahead, it will continue to deepen the biblical foundation that shapes everything LPU graduates carry into their callings.
