Dr. Pamela M. Christian, a native of Los Angeles, California, is a first-generation college graduate with a B.A. in History from Seton Hall University, an M.A. in Educational Counseling from California State University, San Bernardino (CSUSB), and a Ph.D. in Higher Education Administration from Claremont Graduate University. She was awarded the American Council on Education Fellowship and has participated in the Harvard Institute for Management and Leadership in Education, as well as the Lakin Institute for Mentored Leadership.
Knowledgeable of both Student Services and Academic Affairs, Dr. Christian worked in Residence Life, and within the Federal TRIO Programs within the California State University, as well as within the Office of Graduate Studies. She also taught Freshman Seminar, and courses within the School of Education. Her teaching experience includes courses in community college, undergraduate, graduate, and doctoral education within both public and private institutions. She has experience teaching American and international students in five countries including Mexico, Ghana, Ethiopia, South Africa, and Egypt. Her portfolio includes responsibility for: academic program review; curriculum development; accreditation reports; faculty development; student retention and success; student, staff, and faculty recruitment; grant writing and management; budget development and management; and strategic planning. Recognized for her expertise addressing cultural competence in higher education, Dr. Christian served as the senior diversity administrator at two private faith-based universities and is a member of the National Association of Diversity Officers in Higher Education. She has published and presented papers focused on diversity related subjects and has served as a consultant. Dr. Christian currently resides in the city of Highland and has been a resident in San Bernardino for 25 years.
