This year’s Cumbre HIspana de Liderazgo was a wild success, breaking the record for attendance with almost 200 Hispanic pastors, leaders, and guests in attendance. Life Pacific University welcomed many men and women from the surrounding areas to join together for a time of spiritual development and personal growth sponsored by our Hispanic Initiatives Department.
Cumbre’s guest speaker was Dr. Miguel Alvarez, the current Rector of the Central American Pentecostal Biblical Seminary (SEBIPCA) in Guatemala, co-founder of the Asian Missions Center, President of the Asian Pentecostal Society, and Professor of Intercultural Studies at Regent University in Virginia Beach, Virginia. We are grateful for his powerful message and godly leadership pouring into the Hispanic community at LPU and beyond.
In attendance were leaders from the Foursquare Hispanic District, including District Supervisor Martin Ruarte and Rolando Cortes. A special time of ministry was led by LPU Board of Trustee member and Pastor of Angeles Temple Hispanic, Mario Barahona, and pastor Eduardo Bogea with worship led by current MLSP student Onesimo Coa and the worship team at CFI San Gabriel Church.
During this event, LPU signed a “Together on Mission” agreement with Foursquare Hispanic educators and the Foursquare Hispanic District, which continues to empower partnerships where all work together for the Great Commission and to work and produce leaders for the benefit of the Kingdom of God.
“The Hispanic Leadership Summit (Cumbre Hispana de Liderazgo) was the best of its kind. Over 200 people gathered to worship the Lord and receive professional development by listening to a world-renowned Latin American Pentecostal scholar and practitioner, Dr. Miguel Alvarez. The Lilly Shared Grant has been such a blessing for our Hispanic Programs and Initiatives Department. Dr. Hugo Aldana and Debora Bravo executed a perfect open session, and we are so grateful for their leadership” says Dr. Daniel Ruarte, Provost & Vice President of Academic Affairs
Additionally, on the Friday before the Cumbre event, LPU hosted the first-ever Life Pacific National Education Symposium alongside the Foursquare Hispanic District with the participation of nine representative schools from all over the country. This event and others like it will continue to provide education and preparation for leadership and ministry to the Hispanic community.
A special thank you to the Hispanic Initiatives Coordinator, Debora Bravo, M.A. for putting together these fantastic events and facilitating a successful Residency Week for the Master’s in Leadership Spanish Language students.
