More Than a Gathering

A place to meet with God and grow together.

Chapel programs exist to create intentional worship opportunities for undergraduate students that encourage holistic formation through gifted speakers, creative arts and Christian practices.

At LPU, chapel creates space for transformation through worship, community, ministry times, God’s Word, inspiring stories and the tangible presence of Jesus. It is also one of the primary places where students, faculty and staff gather as one university community.

Student-Led Worship

Students don’t just attend chapel. They help lead it.

At LPU, worship is student led, giving students meaningful experience leading congregations in worship to Christ while developing the leadership abilities they will carry into future ministry and service.

Worship teams lead chapel services twice a week and participate in worship nights throughout the year. Students have the opportunity to audition each semester.

Frequently Asked Questions

LPU Worship & Worship Arts & Media

Learn how the Worship Arts & Media academic program and LPU Worship work together, how students can get involved, and what makes each opportunity distinct.

What is the difference between the BA in Worship Arts & Media Program and LPU Worship?

Worship Arts & Media is an academic program. Students enroll in the program to receive education, training, mentorship, and hands-on experience in areas such as worship leadership, musicianship, songwriting, audio production, and other elements of creative arts in ministry.

LPU Worship is a co-curricular university team and the worship music brand of Life Pacific University. The team is not connected to a specific program but focuses on developing real-world skills and deepening spiritual growth. The LPU Worship team serves in chapel, contributes to songwriting and recording projects, and represents LPU at university, church, and community events.

Both are important expressions of LPU’s mission, but they serve different purposes.

What is the purpose of the Worship Arts & Media program?

The Worship Arts & Media program is a major and academic program designed to help students grow in their faith, theology, and disciplines as artists, musicians, worship leaders, songwriters, and creative professionals. Students may enter the program as emerging or experienced musicians who want to strengthen their skills.

Through classes, coaching, collaboration, and practical opportunities, students are encouraged to learn, experiment, develop their gifts, and become all God has created them to be.

What is the purpose of LPU Worship?

LPU Worship exists to cultivate and share the worship sound of Life Pacific University, providing worship resources to both the LPU campus and the greater community. Its members help lead chapel services, write original songs, participate in recordings, and represent the university through worship ministry, service, and leadership.

LPU Worship also provides students with an opportunity to serve, collaborate, and develop through experiences outside of the classroom.

Do students have to major in Worship Arts & Media to join LPU Worship?

No. LPU Worship is open to students from every academic major.

Any eligible LPU student may apply and audition to participate. Team members are selected based on areas such as gifting, preparation, character, teamwork, musical ability, ministry readiness, and the current needs of the team.

Are Worship Arts & Media students involved in LPU Worship?

Yes. Many Worship Arts & Media students participate in LPU Worship, and the team provides a meaningful opportunity for them to apply what they are learning in the academic program.

At the same time, LPU Worship also welcomes talented students from other majors. This creates a diverse team that reflects the gifts and creativity found throughout the university.

Does being in the Worship Arts & Media program guarantee a position on LPU Worship?

Enrollment in the academic program does not automatically guarantee placement on the LPU Worship team. Because LPU Worship is a university representative team, students participate through an audition and selection process through the Office of Student Life and LPU Chapel.

Worship Arts & Media students receive valuable education, development, and performance opportunities within their program whether or not they are currently serving on LPU Worship.

Does participation in LPU Worship replace academic training?

No. LPU Worship is not a replacement for the Worship Arts & Media academic program. The academic program provides structured learning, faculty instruction, skill development, theological formation, and progress toward a degree. LPU Worship provides a co-curricular setting where selected students can serve the university and gain additional ministry and performance experience.

How do Worship Arts & Media and LPU Worship work together?

The two areas are intended to complement and strengthen one another.

Worship Arts & Media develops students through academic instruction and creative formation. LPU Worship provides a university-wide platform for students to serve, collaborate, write, lead, and represent LPU where they also receive coaching, training and leadership by the Chapel leadership, Campus Pastor, Worship Pastor and Songwriter in Residence and other “in-residence” staff members.

Together, they help cultivate worship leaders, artists, musicians, songwriters, and creative professionals who are Christ-centered, Spirit-filled, and prepared to serve the Church and the world.

Who oversees LPU Worship?

LPU Worship operates under university leadership and the OSL and works collaboratively with Chapel, Spiritual Formation, and the Worship Arts & Media academic program.

This collaboration helps ensure that the team reflects the mission, theology, standards, and worship culture of Life Pacific University.

What does it mean that LPU Worship is the worship music brand of the university?

LPU Worship represents the collective worship identity and sound of Life Pacific University. Through chapel leadership, original music, recordings, events, and partnerships, LPU Worship highlights the spiritual life, creativity, and talent of the LPU community. It is not limited to one academic department but serves as a university-wide expression of worship.

How can students become involved?

Students interested in LPU Worship may apply and participate in the announced audition process. Opportunities may include vocalists, instrumentalists, songwriters, worship leaders, production team members, and other creative roles based on current needs. Auditions are held each Spring Semester. Students interested in deeper academic preparation and professional development are also encouraged to explore the Worship Arts & Media degree program.
