Home E News E Hearts on Mission: Students Serve Across the Globe

University, California

This summer, our students boldly stepped out of their comfort zones and into the calling of Christ, spreading His love across the globe through a variety of impactful missions trips. From local outreaches to international service, each team carried a spirit of compassion, humility, and faith—bringing light to communities in need.

Our missions’ teams partnered with churches, schools, and non-profit organizations to serve in tangible ways—whether through building projects, leading children’s programs, supporting food distribution efforts, or simply sharing the Gospel through personal testimony and relationship.

Visiting Kenya was a dream come true! Ever since I first heard about the Global Engagement program at LPU, I prayed that I would get to experience my first mission trip with my peers here. The two weeks we spent in Kenya – along with the time leading up to it and the time that followed – were filled with sign after sign of God’s provision. We saw healings, provided medicine and reading glasses, shared testimonies and the gospel, witnessed pastors receive Spirit-led training from Dr. Dan Stewart (LPU President Emeritus), supported the construction of mud homes, funded the building a new church, visited schools, and so much more. One of the most impactful aspects was witnessing the abundant love and generous hospitality shown by those who had so little. I hope to go on many more mission trips in my life, especially to Africa. It truly transformed the way I view the world, the Kingdom of God, and His love for humankind. – Madeline Gale ’25, Staff and graduate student (MBA)

While the destinations were different, the purpose was united: to make Jesus known. Students returned with powerful stories of transformation—not only in the lives of those they served, but in their own hearts as well. These experiences have sparked a deeper passion for ministry, justice, and global awareness.

On this trip to Kenya, my team and I truly had an amazing time, during which we encountered God in many ways. My biggest takeaway from this trip was seeing how powerfully God can move in a true community of discipleship. We witnessed such unity, hospitality, and closeness from the Kenyan people we got to do ministry with. In addition to this, I also personally experienced 3 miracles of healing after prayer! Overall, this experience truly grew my faith and dependence on God. Since this experience was very outside my comfort zone, I was pushed into circumstances where all I could do was fully depend on God, and I watched Him come through every time. – Koen West ’27

As we reflect on what God has done through our students, we are reminded of the words of Jesus in Matthew 28:19-20:

“Go therefore and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, teaching them to observe all that I have commanded you. And behold, I am with you always, to the end of the age.”

My reflection on my trip to Romania was extremely eye-opening. My mindset coming into it was that I would be working and through my work God would move and do a work for the families that we are providing for. While all that did happen, God also did a work in me because of my obedience. He helped mend certain aspects that I was trying desperately to cut off as well as show me the importance of community with believers. There was even a chance that I was not going to come back to school based on the fact that I got injured and would miss my upcoming season, but through prayer and community I was brought back and shown that God has more control over life than I do. Overall, it was a great experience, and I enjoyed every second of it. I’m sure I speak for everyone on the trip when I say they wish they could’ve stayed longer, including the leads. – Dylan Cabs ’25

We are so proud of our students for saying “yes” to the Great Commission. Thank you to everyone who prayed, gave, and supported these trips. The seeds planted this summer will continue to bear fruit for years to come.”
