Life Pacific University is delighted to announce the appointment of Dr. Carole Gilmore to the Department of Counseling and Psychology. Dr. Gilmore joins LPU with an extensive background in counseling, higher education, and organizational leadership, making her a valuable addition to the faculty as LPU continues to expand its counseling programs.
Dr. Gilmore earned her PhD in Industrial and Organizational Psychology from Grand Canyon University, where her dissertation focused on “Work Stressors and Their Influence on Marital Satisfaction among African Americans.” She also holds an MS in Mental Health Counseling with a Forensic Counseling specialization and a BS in Psychology from Walden University. Her academic achievements reflect her dedication to excellence, further supported by her licensure as a Licensed Professional Counselor (LPC) and LPC Supervisor (LPC-S) in Texas. She is also a National Certified Counselor (NCC) and a Certified Daring Way Facilitator, bringing a wealth of professional expertise to the classroom.
Beyond her academic credentials, Dr. Gilmore is a respected practitioner, serving as the founder and lead counselor of Authentic Balance Counseling, PLLC, where she has provided mental health services since 2013. Her credentials also extend into mediation and arbitration, holding certifications in Basic and Advanced Family Mediation, as well as serving as an Arbitrator for the Financial Industry Regulatory Authority (FINRA) since 2023.
Dr. Gilmore’s influence extends well beyond her clinical practice. As an adjunct professor at prestigious institutions including the University of North Texas, Pepperdine University, and Amberton University, she has developed and taught courses in multicultural counseling, social psychology, and advanced counseling theories. She has also contributed significantly to online course design and student development, with a strong focus on creating interactive and accessible learning environments.
Her thought leadership is further highlighted through her numerous professional presentations and publications. She has presented at national conferences, including the EEOC Training Event in Washington, D.C., where she delivered her presentation, *Unconscious Bias: A Collaborative Toolkit*, in 2021. Other notable presentations include *Team Building in the Workplace* and *Recognizing and Preventing Teen Anxiety and Depression*. Dr. Gilmore has also authored articles on mental health and relationship dynamics, including her work featured in the Huffington Post, titled *When is it Time to Let Go of a Relationship?*
Prof. Carissa Hawksworth, Dean of Arts and Sciences, praised Dr. Gilmore’s diverse background, stating, “Dr. Gilmore brings unparalleled field experience and academic rigor to LPU. Her ability to integrate practical skills with innovative teaching methods will significantly enhance both our MAC and HDP programs.”
Dr. Jeff Tolle, Dean of Theology and Ministry, echoed similar sentiments, highlighting her leadership and passion for student development: “Dr. Gilmore’s leadership and dedication to student growth are evident. Her deep commitment to fostering a Christ-centered learning environment makes her a perfect fit for our faculty.”
Dr. Gilmore’s work in the counseling field also extends to expert witness and consultation roles in forensic psychology, diversity and inclusion, family assessment, and mental health evaluation, further underscoring her broad expertise.
