Life Pacific University is pleased to announce that its new 100% online Master of Arts in Education has received approval from the WASC Senior College and University Commission (WSCUC), marking an important milestone as the university prepares to launch the program in Fall 2027.
On September 14, 2026, the WASC Senior College and University Commission (WSCUC) approved LPU’s substantive change proposal for distance education for the Master of Arts in Education. The approval marks the completion of the program’s approval process and an important milestone since LPU first announced the new M.A. in Education in May 2026.
Life Pacific University is institutionally accredited by WSCUC and the Association for Biblical Higher Education (ABHE). With the M.A. in Education now approved, LPU can move forward with the launch of the program and continue expanding flexible, Christ-centered graduate education for working professionals.
Educating Leaders Who Make a Difference
Designed for educators and leaders who want to increase their influence, the M.A. in Education combines practical preparation in teaching, learning, leadership, assessment, technology, research, and organizational change with LPU’s distinctive commitment to faith integration.
Dr. Angie Richey, President of Life Pacific University, said the program reflects the university’s vision for preparing leaders who can make a meaningful difference in the places they serve.
“This degree is deeply aligned with who we are,” Richey shared when the program was first announced. “At LPU, we believe education is formation. The M.A. in Education will prepare leaders to serve with wisdom, compassion, and skill in classrooms, churches, nonprofits, and organizations where people are shaped for the future.”
The fully online format is designed for working professionals, allowing students to pursue advanced education while continuing to serve in their careers, ministries, organizations, and communities.
Students will develop knowledge and skills in areas including:
- Educational psychology and instructional design
- Assessment and evaluation
- Law, ethics, and educational policy
- Instructional leadership
- Organizational culture and change
- Partnerships with families and communities
- Cultural competency
- Technology and innovation in education
- Resource management
- Educational research
- Evidence-based practice and capstone research
Dr. Daniel Ruarte, Provost and Vice President of Academic Affairs, emphasized the practical focus of the program when it was originally announced.
“Today’s learners need leaders who can think critically, teach effectively, and lead change wisely,” Ruarte said. “This program equips students with the tools to bring practical solutions and meaningful transformation to their communities.”
The degree is designed for professionals serving in a wide range of settings, including K–12 education, higher education, church and ministry leadership, nonprofit organizations, training and development, educational administration, curriculum and instructional support, and discipleship and formation programs.
Sara Huson, Vice President of Enrollment Management and Marketing, said the program was intentionally created with working professionals in mind.
“This degree is built for the working professional who knows they are called to more,” Huson said. “It is flexible, practical, and designed to help students take their next step with confidence.”
