Home E News E 2022 Beyond Borders Award presented to Wendy Wright ’84

University

A 1984 graduate of LIFE Bible College, Wendy has spent post-college life on the “front lines,” helping and protecting people who have no voice and whose lives are endangered or at risk of exploitation. Her commitment to living fully surrendered to Christ and His mission has led her on an unexpected journey from sidewalk ministry in protection of the unborn, to testifying in front of the Supreme Court and offering policy advice in the White House.

Currently, as President and CEO of Christian Freedom International (CFI), Wendy leads a ministry whose primary purpose is to aid, equip, and advocate for Christians who are oppressed or persecuted for their faith. Quick to give God credit for doing greater things in her life than she ever planned, Wendy acknowledges LIFE Bible College gave her a solid foundation and Biblical worldview so she could engage the pressing issues of the day with confidence.

More than thirty-five years after attending a Church Growth class at LBC, the words of Dr. John Amstutz echo in her heart, “God is always working and can be working differently.” This perspective of God working in different ways has helped Wendy navigate the difficult situations she has encountered while working within various frontline-focused organizations and ministries.

Awarded for the 2022 Alumnus of the Year Beyond Borders Award, Wendy is described as a “selfless and servant-hearted leader who lives out the gospel on a daily basis.” Clearly, Wendy exemplifies LPU’s mission of what it means to be a leader serving as the light of Christ in a dark world.

Wendy knows this is not because of anything she has done or become. Rather, the harvest is directly related to the faithfulness of God and His incredible ability to work in and through a willing servant. While God’s path has been unexpected and unconventional, Wendy has discovered incredible freedom by following God’s plan and has discovered that God had greater things for her than she ever could have imagined or planned.

The Beyond Borders Award is given to an alumnus who displays Spirit-empowered Christian leadership in a land/country or dedicated service to a culture or people group different than their birth heritage. This includes full-time Christian missionary work and volunteer service with a para-church or other service-oriented agency.
