Dr. Lee, a practitioner, and scholar with a heart for pastoral ministry and spiritual formation, will assume his new role immediately, bringing with him a wealth of experience and a passion for equipping the next generation of ministry leaders.

Dr. Lee has taught as adjunct faculty for several years and served on several committees. In addition, as a pastor, church planter, and professor, Dr. Lee has contributed to pastor roundtable conversations and the recently submitted Lilly Compelling Preaching Grant proposal.

As an esteemed alumnus of LPU, Dr. Lee completed his Doctorate at Portland Seminary, where he honed his expertise in pastoral ministry and spiritual formation. He completed his doctorate with a written dissertation entitled Foursquare Path: A Discipleship Journey Rooted in the Foursquare Gospel. With a deep understanding of the program’s mission and values, as well as his practical experience as a lead pastor, Dr. Lee is uniquely qualified to lead and elevate the Ministry and Theology Department.

“We are thrilled to welcome Dr. Tim Lee as the new Chair of Ministry and Theology,” said Dr. Angie Richey President of LPU. “His combination of practical ministry experience and scholarly pursuits makes him an exceptional leader for this vital program. I’ve known Tim for years and trust his passion, relational skills, and commitment to disciple-making. We believe that under his guidance, the program will flourish and expand, empowering students to serve locally and globally in various ministry fields within the local church.”

Dr. Lee’s heart for pastoral ministry and spiritual formation is evident in his dedication to mentoring and developing ministry leaders. He and his wife, Sharon have served as pastors for several years, providing guidance and support to their congregations and cultivating environments of spiritual growth and transformation. His expertise and commitment to holistic and healthy ministry will undoubtedly shape the program’s curriculum and initiatives, enriching the educational experience for students.

Dr. Daniel Ruarte, Provost and Vice President of Academic Affairs affirms Dr. Lee’s new role, “Dr. Lee has been faithfully serving the Lord at LPU teaching as adjunct faculty. He is a pastor and a scholar with a desire to instill deep spiritual discipleship in the next generation of bible and ministry leaders. Dr. Lee’s experience as a youth minister, church planter, and senior pastor brings a rich mix of practical experience and strong leadership to our team. We have been praying for the right person to lead our theology and ministry programs and after a competitive search, I feel confident the search committee made the right choice. Congratulations Dr. Lee and LPU!”

Dr. Jeff Tolle, Dean of the School of Theology and Ministry, says “Dr. Tim Lee has been a long-time supporter of LPU, investing in the lives of countless students for many years as a professor. It is my joy to welcome him into this new role where he will shepherd and lead the programs that are raising up the next generation of pastors, ministry leaders, and biblical scholars. His love for Christ, the Foursquare Church, and all of God’s people is profoundly evident. Dr. Lee brings the right mix of pastoral ministry experience and biblical knowledge that is crucial to lead our Department of Ministry and Theology. I have personally seen his passion to see our students become more like Christ and fulfill God’s calling on their lives. I consider it a privilege to work with him as we advance the mission of LPU”.

Under Dr. Lee’s leadership, the Ministry and Theology Department aims to strengthen its connections with area leaders and communities. By fostering partnerships and collaborations, the program will further its mission of equipping students to bring the gospel to diverse contexts both locally and globally.

Dr. Tim Lee expresses his excitement for his new role, “LPU played a significant role in my development as a leader and minister of the Foursquare Gospel. I am humbled and honored to now be able to turn around and serve the development of the next generation as they prepare to take the reins of the Church. My hope is that through this partnership the Foursquare Gospel will continue to be in good hands as we move beyond our centennial and far into the future”.
