University, California

Life Pacific University’s Theater and Creative Arts Department put on their fall production of Peter and the Starcatcher, which was a tremendous success. All three nights the show ran were highly attended, garnering support from students, staff and faculty, alumni, and friends of the LPU community.

For the first time, a Life Pacific Theater production provided a soft opening where 40 school children and special guests attended a preview showing on Wednesday night. Included was a Question and Answer session with the cast, allowing students to share about the ways they had grown through using the arts. This testimony was inspiring to the kids who stayed to connect with the cast, allowing them to use the arts to minister to elementary children.

The Program Chair of our Mass Communication program and director of the play, Carissa Hawksworth, says “ It was an honor to watch the students grow.  Some had never acted before this production so seeing them grow in their confidence and find new, hidden talents truly was an incredible gift!”

Rachel Harris, a senior majoring in Mass Communications, played Molly in Peter and the Starcatcher but has also starred in every Theater Production since she began attending LPU.

She says, “Theatre has been integral to my experience at LPU. Peter and the Starcatcher reminded me of the joys of being a child and how God views us as His children. It was an amazing show to be a part of and the support from the community of LPU is greatly appreciated!”

We are already looking forward to the Spring ‘23 show, Into the Woods.
