A Life Pacific University student, Calvin Welch, has been selected to join the Association for Biblical Higher Education’s Reclaim Today Student Initiative professional writing and design cohort.

ABHE is partnering with Our Daily Bread Ministries (ODB) to create student opportunities made available to all member institutions of the ABHE. Life Pacific reached out to several students and encouraged them to apply to this highly competitive cohort program, with one student selected for admission. Calvin Welch, a current sophomore majoring in both Worship Arts and Media and Biblical Studies, will join the cohort in February in Orlando, Florida.

ABHE and ODB have partnered together to train 90 student spiritual formation content writers and designers over the next three years, with donors covering all costs for travel, lodging, and attendance at this landmark gathering. Calvin has been chosen among all applicants to join this first cohort of 30 students set to gather next month.

When asked about his excitement for his acceptance and opportunity, Calvin writes,

“I wished to attend this intensive because it aims to train young men and women in the distribution of the gospel method using contemporary and culturally prevalent avenues. Graphic design and creative writing have untapped storytelling potential, and to tell the Christian story through these skills without compromising professionality or excellence would be a privilege. I am very excited to be at the intersection between God’s message for today and the platforms that would effectively spread it”.

Adjunct Professor and Marketing Videographer, Andy Hawksworth, who is Calvin’s boss on the LPU Marketing Team says,

“Calvin is the kind of student you hire for a project because you know he does good work, but then he turns in a “rough draft“ that will leave your jaw on the floor with his creativity and excellence, and execution. He is always willing to jump in and help out in whatever way he can, but never forgets to keep the people on his team front and center. It is an honor partnering with him these recent semesters and I can not wait to see where this opportunity takes him!”.

Congratulations to Calvin and his excellence in his personal, spiritual, and academic life that the ABHE acknowledged!
